A leading supplier of cleaning chemicals to the School and Institutional markets in the UK was experiencing a growing export market. Chem Resist designed and installed the first bulk storage and mixing project (5 vessels, pumps & pipework) for and over the next 10 years 28 million litres of product were produced on the Phase 1 plant.
The decision was made in 2004 to implement Phase 2 with a capacity of 5 million litres/yr and after a competitive bidding round Chem Resist were successful in securing the contract for Phase 2.
The project scope included 13 vessels (5 – 40m³) consisting of raw material storage, formulation and blending vessels and final product storage prior to filling.
What was required of Chem Resist was the capability to manufacture the vessels, design the pipework, provide the PLC system for the automated mixing system and then install and commission the whole project.
Installing this large project in an existing building presented some challenges even to the extent that some vessels too large to fit through doors were part assembled and completed on site.
The project was completed in 6 months just in time for the company’s annual meeting and tour of the facility.
